Oil & Gas Pipelines Applications

Oil & Gas Pipelines can suffer from internal corrosion leading to costly leaks and emergency repair work. When carrying out any repair work to existing pipework it is useful to be able to determine the pipe wall thickness when planning the job.

Pipelines often have protective coatings such as plastics or coal-tar therefore any thickness gauge needs to read the pipe wall thickness through these coatings. Removal of these protective coatings is impractical as it is costly and renders the area prone to future corrosion.

Cygnus gauges provide the ideal instrument for this kind of pipeline survey work, easily measuring through paint and protective coatings. Our Multiple Echo technique ensures that a reliable thickness measurement of only the remaining metal thickness is given.

Our 'Deep Coat' mode offers the ability to measure through coatings up to 20 mm thick.
